【摘要】:Thistestmethodisofvalueinratingthetear-propagationresistanceofvariousplasticfilmsandthinsheetingofcomparablethickness.Forhighlyextensiblefilmorsheetingthedeformationenergyofthespecimenlegsissignificantlygreaterthanthetearingenergy.Thetear-propagationresistanceinslightlyextensibleornon-extensiblefilmorsheetingisdistinguishedfromthetear-propagationresistanceinhighlyextensiblefilmorsheetingbytheload-timeorload-displacementdata,(Fig.1andFig.2).Thetear-propagationforceforslightlyextensibleornon-extensiblematerialisdeterminedfromtheaveragetearforceversustheinitialandpeakforceforahighlyextensiblematerial.Thistestmethodshallbeusedforspecificationacceptancetestingonlyafterithasbeendemonstratedthatthedatafortheparticularmaterialareacceptablyreproducible.Thedataobtainedbythistestmethodfurnishinformationforrankingthetear-propagationresistanceofplasticfilmsandsheetingofsimilarcomposition.Actualuseperformancemaynotnecessarilycorrelatewithdatafromthistestmethod.Setsofdatafromspecimensofdissimilarthicknessareusuallynotcomparable.Beforeproceedingwiththistestmethod,referenceshouldbemadetothespecificationofthematerialbeingtested.Anytestspecimenpreparation,conditioning,dimensions,ortestingparameters,orcombinationthereof,coveredintherelevantASTMmaterialspecificationshalltakeprecedenceoverthosementionedinthistestmethod.IftherearenorelevantASTMmaterialspecifications,thenthedefaultconditionsapply.Table1ofClassificationSystemsD4000liststheASTMmaterialsstandardsthatcurrentlyexist.FIG.1Load-TimeChartforLow-ExtensibleFilmFIG.2Load-TimeChartforHighlyExtensibleFilm1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheforcenecessarytopropagateatearinplasticfilmandthinsheeting(thicknessof1mm[0.04in.]orless)byasingle-tearmethod.Themethodisnotapplicableforfilmorsheetingmaterialwherebrittlefailuresoccurduringtesting.Note1Filmhasbeenarbitrarilydefinedassheetinghavingnominalthicknessnotgreaterthan0.25mm[0.010in.].1.2Constant-Rate-of-GripSeparationTestThistestmethodemploysaconstantrateofseparationofthegripsholdingthetestspecimen.1.2.1Specimenextensionmaybemeasuredinthistestmethodbygripseparation.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninbracketsareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ThisstandardissimilartoISO6383-1,butisnotconsideredtechnicallyequivalent.ThespecimensizeforISO6383-1islarger,andthemethodspecifiesdifferenttestspeeds.
