【摘要】:NOTE1ThisclausedefinesthescopeofthisInternationalStandard.Itshouldnotbeconfusedwiththeconceptof“scope”definedin3.16,whichonlyappliesinthecontextoftopicmaps.Topicmapsenablemultiple,concurrentviewsofsetsofinformationobjects.Thestructuralnatureoftheseviewsisunconstrained;theymayreflectanobjectorientedapproach,ortheymayberelational,hierarchical,ordered,unordered,oranycombinationoftheforegoing.Moreover,anunlimitednumberoftopicmapsmaybeoverlaidonagivensetofinformationresources.Topicmapscanbeused:—toqualifythecontentand/ordatacontainedininformationobjectsastopicstoenablenavigationaltoolssuchasindexes,cross-references,citationsystems,orglossaries;—tolinktopicstogetherinsuchawayastoenablenavigationbetweenthem.Thiscapabilitycanbeusedforvirtualdocumentassembly,andforcreatingthesaurus-likeinterfacestocorpora,knowledgebases,etc.;—tofilteraninformationsettocreateviewsadaptedtospecificusersorpurposes.Forexample,suchfilteringcanaidinthemanagementofmultilingualdocuments,managementofaccessmodesdependingonsecuritycriteria,deliveryofpartialviewsdependingonuserprofilesand/orknowledgedomains,etc.;—tostructureunstructuredinformationobjects,ortofacilitatethecreationoftopic-orienteduserinterfacesthatprovidetheeffectofmergingunstructuredinformationbaseswithstructuredones.Theoverlaymechanismoftopicmapscanbeconsideredasakindofexternalmarkupmechanism,inthesensethatanarbitrarystructureisimposedontheinformationwithoutalteringitsoriginalform.ThisInternationalStandarddoesnotrequireordisallowtheuseofanyschemeforaddressinginformationobjects.ExceptfortherequirementthattopicmapdocumentsthemselvesbeexpressedusingSGML(orWebSGML)andHyTime,usingthesyntaxdescribedherein,neitherdoesitrequireordisallowtheuseofanynotationusedtoexpressinformation.
